‘She is tossed by the waves but does not sink’ traces my heritage through France to the region of Brittany. My graduate collection tells the story of a fictional journey through my personal unconscious. Inspired by the psychological ideas of Carl Jung, each look describes a different point along the psychic journey I took upon sitting on the beach of my hometown during the end of the second lockdown. Looking out upon the sea, I close my eyes and Imagine slipping beneath the surface of the ocean, past generational layers into the timeless void. A nostalgia for memories which do not belong to me, I admire the craftmanship and reliability people of the 1900’s imbued into their garments. Through textile development I forged my own relationship to my materials and while exploring traditional tailoring methods, I am honouring the patience required to participate in sustainable ways of creation
