Graduate Collection: Configuration

My graduate collection has various strands of inspiration, initially led by material exploration linked to parachutes. This was developed through sampling where I looked to recreate light, billowy characteristics using floss yarn and monofilament. Another major strand was the use of ‘waste’ and found objects to make compositional layouts, which was integral to the colour and shape development within my samples. To translate these two ideas into my samples, I used bemis to bond thin monofilament layers together with knitted punch-cards and colour palettes. To add shapes and arrange them within and on top of the layers, I used felted knits which could then be cut from.

The final samples consist of a combination of colour, shape and negative space to create a considered configuration of all aspects of my samples.

Collection 2 : Neutrals

This project is a further development of my main project ‘configuration’, while within this I used a much more neutral colour palette along with thicker and softer yarns. The final samples are intended to be for interior uses.
