Retaining Independent Practice
For this event GSA graduate, artist and designer Deirdre Nelson (Textiles Design 1992), talks about the transition from being in design education to being a designer and retaining independent practice while in industry. Talking about the intersection between Art and Design and giving insights into how to retain independent practice after Art School, Deidre shares her own experiences after art school and provides reflections on her own profressional journey in industry.
About Deirdre Nelson:
Deirdre is a contemporary embroiderer and has exhibited widely in a variety of gallery and museum contexts and been involved in site specific works in heritage locations such as Gibside Estate Northumbria and Brosdworth Hall Yorkshire. Research and education forms a large part of her practice with extensive experience in school and community contexts.
