My work is a collection of wearable jewellery made from precious metals and gemstones. Each slug is individually hand carved and set with semi precious gemstones.
Intertwined Ring
Bronze intertwined ring. Hand carved ring made from two slugs that slide into each other and can be worn as one.
No stones are set into this ring but they are hollowed out to reduce weight.
A semi polish has been added to the surface to highlight the surface texture.
Sapphire Slug Brooch
Slug brooch made in silver and synthetic sapphires.
Hand carved in wax and then cast in silver. Semi polished with darker areas of detail.
Set with 9 baguettes and 1 oval synthetic sapphire. These stones are lab grown in a controlled environment making them a sustainable choice to natural sapphires.

A look into how a hand carve my pieces and the process they go along .
Hard wax is used to create the form of a slug crawling along your body. I carefully carve into the wax to create marks and dents that a slug would have. I hollow my model out to make the end piece wearable and not heavy.
Once the shapes are carved I then set the stones one by one into the surface securely with tools and wax. This stage of the process is the most challenging due to the uncertainty of how the different stones will react to the temperature and placement.
After the wax models are finished they are placed in a kiln to melt away the wax which molten silver or bronze replaces creating a replica of the wax model.

Bronze and Ruby Brooch
Bronze slug brooches with a combination of set stones.
Each of these brooches is hand carved from wax and cast into bronze. The stones are set into the wax which go through the process of casting with the slugs. Reflecting the slimy movement of the creatures.
The top slug has 33 stones in the body part of the brooch. These are all CZ and range from rubies, peridot to champagne colours. The stones are a gorgeous contrast to the earth bronze colour as they glisten at different angles while worn. Highly polished brooch made from bronze
Each brooch has a steel pin running down the centre of the hollow slug.

Each of these brooches is hand carved from wax and cast into bronze. The stones are set into the wax which go through the process of casting with the slugs. Reflecting the slimy movement of the creatures.
The top slug has 12 synthetic peridot marquis stones and 16 champagne marquis stone in the body part of the brooch. While 15 small round stone in the upper part of the body. These stones are a gorgeous contrast to the earth bronze colour as they glisten at different angles while worn.
The bottom slug is made with 12 blood orange baguette stones. with small hints of champagne colours dotted throughout this piece. Leaving an unpredictable outcome reflecting the natural world.
Each brooch has a steel pin running down the centre of the hollow slug.
Slug Cufflinks
Bronze slug cufflinks.
Cufflinks made one small baby slug and a larger slug connected by a chain. The chain is silver and oxidised holding a slug on each end.
Each of these brooches is hand carved from wax and cast into bronze. This can cause small imperfections and leaving them non identical.
A high shine is added to the surface making each slugs stand out against a shirt.
Two slugs make up one cufflink and these are all hollow.
Double Slug Ring
Bronze slug ring.
This ring is hand carved from wax and cast into bronze. The ring is made from two slugs facing each other on the surface. The slugs are crawling over your finger passing by one another.
A high shine is added to the surface making each slug stand out as jewellery.
This ring is a UK size Q.
