Joseph Weisberg
I work in a multi-disciplinary fashion with pieces ranging from large installations, ongoing photography collections, and sonic experiments. I regularly work with lens-based media, and predominantly explore material through found objects, casting, and welding metal. My work often has the intention of affecting the way people see, and interact with their surroundings.
Mounds, 2020-2022 (ongoing)
Mounds (2020-2022, ongoing) is an installation of sixty-two digital prints displaying urban, suburban, and rural piles of used, to-be used, and unwanted piles of miscellaneous material. Each mound has a unique sculptural quality, and they are often assembled by people and machinery. These construction workers, farmers, business owners, dump trucks (the list goes on) are covert creatives, and the work is in recognition of them, and the beauty of the forms that detritus can take. The work is comprised from a two-year long, ongoing photography collection containing over 200 photos of mounds.
Mounds Revisited (2020-2022) is a publication documenting the evolution that Glasgow-based mounds and their respective sites take over time.
