Anní Mara (She/Her)
Anní Mara is an Icelandic artist who is working between Iceland and the UK. Employing photography and writing in her practice, Mara‘s images are rooted in the relationship between personal and social, heavily influenced by the notion of anthropology, legacy, and one’s psychology by which she invites the viewer to her own space.
Mara‘s artistic language avoids any extra noise when trying to expose things to their true being. Her recent work explores the relationship between place, memory, and narrative. By (visual) storytelling, she creates clean and minimalistic, often abstract looking images, focused on one subject and message at the time, creating the intimacy between the artwork and the viewer.
