Marcus Carr (He/Him)

This project takes inspiration from photographic qualities and television monitors, looking at how grain, moiré and diffusion of light can be used to create textural, atmospheric print designs. Primary research has been captured from street textures, architectural structures and gallery visits which replicate these properties. Throughout my researching period, searching for bold sections of colour, contrasting textures and graphic marks was my key focus. Working primarily with CAD, I created a bank of visual content to pull design concepts from which have successfully emulated the moody qualities I have been inspired by. Working with technical fabrics has been my primary focus throughout my design development stage, seeking to produce textiles suitable for hard-wearing, weatherproof streetwear. I have chosen which print processes to work with accordingly, using bonding, vinyl, laser etching, laminates, digital print and dye sublimation.
