School of Fine Art Sculpture & Environmental Art

Iona McGeachie (She/Her )

Iona McGeachie is a multidisciplinary artist, heavily influenced by materials, process and learning through making. She explores various mediums; however, she is currently investigating the boundaries of metal sculptures concerning the body.

Iona’s practice builds from a continuation of shared spaces and how we move throughout them, focused on the constructed environment that people consciously and unconsciously accept.

Iona’s sculptures are strongly inspired by architecture and barriers that control movement and sculptures that consider balance and challenge the traditional ideas of function and dysfunction. Her work displays a combination of hand-crafted and manufactured objects.
