UFEX project

The building’s vertical farming project will transform the concept of urban agriculture into a ‘vegetative’ complex whose small production loop will enable residents to produce and buy directly from their local urban farms. Located near Spiers Warf, which celebrates the end of the Forth and Clyde Canal in the north of Glasgow. The design of the building will house the crop(The  HUB) and residents'(The HOUSE)) workers in a structure that maximises exposure to sunlight and ventilation, as urban populations surge and agricultural space decreases, the demand for fresh produce increases in an urban environment. These concepts are sustainable, progressive, and innovative alternatives. Through this project, the city demonstrates the potential for sustainability, education, and local economic participation beyond community gardens in buildings where traditional agriculture and technological innovation intersect.
